LexisNexis does not publish a price for Lexis+ AI, which it replaced in February 2026 with Lexis+ with Protégé. Small firms can buy the research tiers online, but the AI layer goes to a sales call. Reported Lexis AI costs run from about $50 to $525 per user per month depending on what is bundled. Here is what is verifiable, what a small firm would really pay, and what a flat published price looks like instead.

LexisNexis does not publish Lexis+ AI pricing. Lexis+ AI was replaced by Lexis+ with Protégé on February 24, 2026, and neither version has a public rate card. Firms with 1 to 3 attorneys can buy Lexis+ research tiers in the LexisNexis online store, but Protégé sits outside those tiers and is priced by a sales representative.
Third-party reports put the AI add-on at roughly $50 to $275 per user per month on top of the research seat, and all-in Lexis+ AI at about $250 to $475 per user per month. LexisNexis has confirmed none of those figures. If the job you want AI for is reading the documents in a matter, CaseClerk publishes its price: $99, $249 or $499 a month for the account, not per user.
Split the research from the AI
Ask for the Lexis+ research price and the Protégé price as two separate lines. If you would keep Lexis+ for research anyway, only the AI line is the real cost of the AI decision.
Get the total contract value
Ask for the full figure across the whole term for your exact user count, with the escalator written out year by year. A low first year on a 3 year term is not the price you pay in year 3.
Divide by the lawyers who will use it
If 10 attorneys get Protégé and 4 use it weekly, your real cost per user is the AI line divided by 4. That is the only per user figure worth comparing to another tool.
Test the actual job before signing
Run a real matter through each tool. If most of what you wanted was finding facts across your own documents, price that job on its own before you pay for research AI you may not need.

Buy it if research is the daily work
Litigators who live in case law and need Shepard's, secondary sources and AI answers grounded in that content are buying something CaseClerk does not sell. For them the AI add-on is an extension of a tool they already pay for.
Buy it if you are renewing Lexis anyway
If your Lexis+ renewal is due, the Protégé add-on is a marginal decision, and renewal is when you have leverage to negotiate it, along with the escalator.
Think again if you want AI for your own files
A lot of the time firms want AI for, the question is not what the law says. It is what the deposition, the emails and the medical records in this matter say. That job does not need a research subscription underneath it.
Think again if a 3 year term is a stretch
A small firm locking in research plus AI for 3 years with a built-in escalator is making a bigger bet than the monthly figure suggests. A month-to-month tool lets you prove the value first.
We collected the Lexis AI figures that appear most often on pages ranking for Lexis AI pricing. They do not agree, and the reason is simple: they measure different things. Some price only the AI add-on. Some price the research seat plus AI. One is a median of whole LexisNexis contracts, not a per user rate at all. None comes from LexisNexis.

Read the table as a spread, not a price list. The low end of $50 a month and the high end of $525 are both plausible, because a solo attorney adding basic AI to Essential and a firm buying the full Protégé assistant on Professional are buying different products under the same name.
LexisNexis does sell to small firms without a sales call. Firms with 1 to 3 attorneys can buy Lexis+ research plans in the LexisNexis online store. The store figures below are as reported by Spellbook's 2026 LexisNexis pricing guide, and they cover research only. LexisNexis states that Lexis+ with Protégé requires contacting its team, so the AI is not in any of these tiers.

Another reported listing puts the three tiers at $128, $314 and $494 a month, and one review puts a single-user store plan near $171. Store prices change with promotions and term length, so treat these as a range and check the store on the day you buy.

The gap is not only the price. Lexis gives you research content that CaseClerk does not have. The point of the table is narrower: if your firm's use for AI is reading its own documents, you do not need to buy the research seat to get it.
Lexis+ AI and Protégé are now one product. LexisNexis launched Lexis+ AI in 2023, added the Protégé assistant, and on February 24, 2026 made Lexis+ with Protégé generally available in the US as the replacement for Lexis+ AI, which it now calls its first-generation AI experience. If a quote or a review still says Lexis+ AI, it is describing the older packaging.
That matters for pricing research. Most published Lexis AI price estimates predate the February 2026 change and the May 2026 additions of Protégé Work, collaboration workrooms and customer-held encryption keys. Ask your representative which capabilities your number includes before you compare it to a figure written a year ago.
