For US firms budgeting legal AI
Most legal AI vendors will not print a price, and the few that do bill in different units. This page lines up every published price we could verify, attributes the reported ones, and shows what each tool costs for a firm of your size.
Prices come from each vendor's own pricing page. Where a vendor prints none, we say so and name the source of any reported figure.
Upload the documents from a case and ask the questions you would bill time for. Every answer names the source document. 25 pages, up to 5 files, no card.
Free preview, no account needed: up to 3 files and 10 pages.
Legal AI tools that publish a price cost roughly $100 to $500 per user a month: Clio Work is $199, Irys One $299, Clearbrief $300 and Paxton $499. The enterprise names, CoCounsel, Lexis+ with Protégé, Harvey and Legora, print no price at all and sell by quote, often with seat minimums. CaseClerk is priced per account rather than per user, from $99 a month.
The quote-only tools are where budgets go wrong, because the figures that circulate online disagree by a factor of five or more. We cover each one in depth: CoCounsel pricing, Harvey AI pricing and seat minimums, Lexis+ AI pricing and Legora pricing.
Count who touches the file
List every lawyer, paralegal and assistant who would use the tool weekly. Per-seat prices multiply by this number, so it is the most important input.
Name the job you are paying for
Research, drafting, brief checking, contract review and reading a case file are different products. Price the tool that does your bottleneck, not the broadest suite.
Run one closed matter through a trial
Use a case where you know the answers. Upload it to CaseClerk and to any tool with a trial, ask the same ten questions, and check the cited source behind each answer.
Total the yearly cost
Multiply by seats, add overages, storage and onboarding, and subtract only the discounts you would actually sign for. Compare that number, not the monthly headline.
Published means the price appears on the vendor's own page. Reported figures come from third parties and are attributed in the next section.

CaseClerk is not legal research, drafting or practice management software. It reads the documents you upload and answers with citations to them.
Solo attorneys
You will pay for one seat either way, so per-user and per-account prices look similar. What matters is whether the tool does your slowest task and whether you can test it on your own file before paying.
Firms of 3 to 15 lawyers
This is where per-seat pricing bites. Five users on Paxton cost $2,495 a month, on Irys Teams $1,645, on Clio Work $995. A tool billed per account does not change price when you add a paralegal.
Plaintiff personal injury practices
EvenUp, Supio and Eve all sell by demo. If the work you want to speed up is reading medical records and depositions, you can price that job on a real claim first.
Litigation boutiques
Casefleet, Clearbrief and the research suites each cover one slice of the case. Pricing them side by side shows which slice you are paying the most for.
Monthly cost on monthly billing, before discounts. Seat counts assume every user needs access; CaseClerk is one account regardless of headcount, sized by pages.
| Tool | 1 user | 5 users | 10 users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clio Work | $199 | $995 | $1,990 |
| Irys (One for 1, Teams for 5 and 10) | $299 | $1,645 | $3,290 |
| Clearbrief Solo | $300 | $1,500 | $3,000 |
| Paxton Individual | $499 | $2,495 | $4,990 |
| Casefleet Advanced AI | $140 | $700 | $1,400 |
| Laine | $350 (Solo) | $2,499 (Boutique, up to 9) | $4,999 (Practice, up to 15) |
| CaseClerk | $99 (2,500 pages) | $249 (10,000 pages) | $499 (30,000 pages) or $998 (60,000) |
Annual billing changes the picture. Paxton's annual price works out to about $250 a month, Irys One to about $254, and CaseClerk's annual plans cost 6 months' price, which halves them. Casefleet and Clearbrief discount through annual or multi-year terms on request. See Casefleet pricing and Clearbrief pricing for the per-user math.
None of these vendors publish a price. The figures below are what third parties report, and they often disagree. Treat them as a range to test against your quote, not a number to budget.
| Tool | What the vendor publishes | What is reported (source type) |
|---|---|---|
| Thomson Reuters CoCounsel | No list price; 12% off a 2 year term, 18% off a 3 year term | Anywhere from about $75 to over $600 per user a month across review and pricing sites |
| Lexis+ with Protégé (replaced Lexis+ AI on February 24, 2026) | No list price; quotes by phone | About $250 to $475 per user a month all-in, per legal tech publishers |
| Harvey | No pricing page, demo only | About $1,200 per seat a month and 20 to 25 seat minimums per third-party reports; "a few hundred dollars per seat" in a Fast Company interview |
| Legora | No list price; consumption credits since June 2026 | About $3,000 per user a year with a 10 seat minimum, per secondhand reports |
| Spellbook | "Custom", set by number of team members | Figures from about $99 to $500 per seat a month on review sites |
| EvenUp, Supio, Eve | Demo only | No consistent public figure |
The detailed breakdowns are on our pages for EvenUp pricing, Supio pricing, Eve Legal pricing and Spellbook pricing.
Start from the number of people who will use the tool every week, multiply each per-seat price by that number, and compare the total with tools billed per account or per document. Under five users, per-seat tools with a trial are usually fine. From five users up, seat minimums and per-user pricing dominate the cost, and a per-account plan or a per-document service is often cheaper for the reading and summarizing work.
Then check the job. A firm that mainly needs research should compare CoCounsel, Lexis+ with Protégé, Paxton and Irys. A firm that loses hours reading productions, depositions and medical records needs a tool that answers questions across the file and shows where the answer came from. That is the job CaseClerk is built for, and it is the one you can test today on a real matter.
Per-seat pricing is simple to understand and expensive to grow. Every new associate or paralegal adds a full license, so firms ration access and the tool ends up used by two people. Per-account pricing charges for volume instead, in CaseClerk's case pages of documents, so the whole team can ask questions of the same matter without a seat count. The trade-off is a volume ceiling: Solo covers 2,500 pages a month, Professional 10,000, Firm 30,000 and Enterprise 60,000.
Neither model is better in every case. If one attorney does all the AI work, a single seat is the cheapest route. If five people need to look things up in the same case file, paying by volume usually wins.
Upload one matter, ask the questions your next filing depends on, and check the source behind each answer. 25 pages, no card, plans from $99 a month for the account.
