DISCO Pricing and What DISCO Ediscovery Costs Per GB
DISCO prints no price. Since February 2026 it sells one per GB rate on processed data with Cecilia AI, deposition tools and timelines included and no seat fees. Here is what that means at 50, 200 and 500 GB.

DISCO does not publish its prices. Since February 25, 2026 it sells its whole platform for one per GB price on processed data: ediscovery, its Cecilia AI, deposition management and timelines are all inside that rate, with no ingest fees and, by DISCO's own account, no charge for user seats. The rate itself comes from sales. Third-party estimates put it anywhere from $10 to $16 per GB a month to $50 to $150 per GB per matter, which tells you mostly that nobody outside a contract knows.
This article sets out what DISCO confirms on its own pages, what others report and where those reports contradict DISCO, what a matter costs at 50, 200 and 500 GB, and the case where you do not need an ediscovery platform at all. If you are still deciding between a platform and a lighter tool, our comparison of legal document review software for small firms sorts the options by job and price.
How much does DISCO cost?
DISCO charges a single per GB rate on processed data, quoted by sales, with AI, ediscovery, deposition tools and timelines included. It prints no dollar figure. One competitor reports a $500 a month minimum, a software directory lists $50 to $150 per GB per matter, and a pricing explainer uses $10 to $16 per GB a month as an illustration. None of these is a DISCO number.
| Source | What it says | How firm it is |
|---|---|---|
| DISCO pricing page | Simplified per GB billing. Unlimited Cecilia AI at no additional charge. No separate charges for ingest, processing or user seats. Duplicates removed at ingest are not billed. Auto Review priced per document, Hold priced per GB. No dollar figure | Primary, current |
| DISCO press release, Feb 25, 2026 | One transparent per GB price on processed data with no ingest fees, covering ediscovery, Cecilia AI, deposition management and timelines (formerly Case Builder), and agentic AI at no additional charge | Primary |
| Software Finder | $50 to $150 per GB of processed data per matter; Auto Review $0.01 to $0.50 per document; professional services $100 to $250 an hour; forensic collection $250 to $350 an hour | Directory estimate, unsourced |
| DecoverAI (a competitor) | $500 a month minimum and per user seat fees on top of per GB hosting | Competitor claim. The seat fee part contradicts DISCO's own pricing page |
| Agentic eDiscovery explainer | $10 to $16 per GB a month for custom per GB models; $30,000 to $48,000 for a 500 GB, 10 reviewer, six month reference matter | Labeled by the author as illustrative, not vendor quotes |
| ComplexDiscovery Winter 2026 survey | 54.7% of respondents charge below $10 per GB a month for basic hosting | Market benchmark, 53 respondents, not DISCO specific |
The useful row is the contradiction. A competitor page says DISCO charges per user, and DISCO's own pricing page says it does not charge for user seats. When two sources disagree on the basic model, ask the rep to put the answer in the order form. The same pattern runs through Relativity pricing, where most published estimates still describe a per user model Relativity has since dropped.
DISCO ediscovery pricing per GB at three matter sizes
Here is what an illustrative $10 to $16 per GB a month means for hosting one matter. It is not DISCO's rate. It is the range a third-party explainer uses for vendors that sell this way, and it sits close to the market survey. Plug in your quoted rate once you have it.
| Processed data | Per month at $10 per GB | Per month at $16 per GB | Six months open |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 GB | $500 | $800 | $3,000 to $4,800 |
| 200 GB | $2,000 | $3,200 | $12,000 to $19,200 |
| 500 GB | $5,000 | $8,000 | $30,000 to $48,000 |
Two details move the bill more than the headline rate. First, DISCO bills on processed data, and it says duplicates removed at ingest are not charged, so deduplication and culling before review directly cut cost. Second, the bill runs as long as the data sits in active review. A matter that stays hosted for two years costs four times a six month one, unless you archive it. Ask what the archive rate is and how quickly you can move closed matters to it.
Does DISCO charge per user?
Not according to DISCO. Its pricing page says there are no separate charges for ingest, processing or user seats, and its earlier pricing announcements made the same point about adding and removing reviewers as a case needs them. A competitor's comparison page claims DISCO charges per user access fees. Treat that as unconfirmed and get the seat terms written into your order form.
Is Cecilia AI included in DISCO pricing?
Yes, for the platform. DISCO says unlimited use of Cecilia AI on the platform is included in the per GB rate, including Cecilia Q&A, auto timelines and deposition summaries. Auto Review, its AI document review that DISCO says runs up to 32,000 documents an hour, is priced separately per document. If you plan to use AI to make first pass responsiveness calls, budget for that line.
Is DISCO worth it for a small firm?
DISCO is worth it when you have to run discovery: collect from custodians, process native files, code for responsiveness and privilege, and produce with Bates numbers. An all-inclusive per GB rate with no seat fees is a cleaner deal than older models that billed hosting, processing, users and AI separately, and that matters if your review team grows and shrinks over a case.
It is harder to justify when your side does not have to produce, and the job is reading. A small plaintiff or employment firm that received a production, or a firm sitting on a client's document dump, mainly needs to find out what the documents say about a handful of issues. Hosting every gigabyte for months to answer that is an expensive way to read.
Where a flat priced reading tool is enough
CaseClerk does the reading job. You upload the documents for one matter, up to 1,000 files across 18 formats, and ask questions in plain English, such as who knew about the defect and when, or what the contract says about termination. Every answer names the source document and page, so you check it instead of trusting it. Pricing is published: $99 a month for 2,500 pages, $249 for 10,000 pages, $499 for 30,000 pages, with annual billing at six months' price.
Be clear about scale. A 50 GB production can run to hundreds of thousands of pages, far beyond a reading plan. CaseClerk fits when the documents you actually need to read fit the page allowance: the key custodian's emails, the contracts, the documents your search hits narrowed down, or a smaller production. It does not process ESI, code documents, build privilege logs or produce. If you have to produce, keep a platform like DISCO, Everlaw or Logikcull for that work.
Once the key documents are found, many firms build their mediation or settlement presentation straight from them, and an AI presentation maker that turns PDFs into slides saves an afternoon of copying exhibits into a deck.

What to ask before you sign a DISCO quote
- The per GB rate in writing, and whether it applies to processed or collected data, before or after deduplication and culling.
- The archive rate for closed or paused matters, and how quickly data moves there.
- Minimums, monthly or annual, and whether unused volume rolls over.
- Auto Review cost per document, if you plan to use AI for first pass review.
- Seat terms, confirming in the order form that reviewers carry no user fee.
- Services: collection, project management and productions by the hour, and which of them you can do yourself.
If the answer to most of these is that you only need to read what you received, run a closed matter through a CaseClerk trial first. It is 25 pages, up to 5 files and no card, and it tells you in an afternoon whether a reading tool covers the job.
