LawAlign Pricing and LawAlign Cost for Personal Injury Firms With the One Time License

LawAlign sells personal injury case management as a one time purchase. The vendor prints $2,500 for a solo runtime version and quotes team licenses. Here is what that costs over five years next to monthly subscriptions.

LawAlign is sold as a one time purchase, with no mandatory monthly or annual fees. The vendor's own site prints one firm number: $2,500, paid once, for a runtime version aimed at a solo attorney. Multi user licenses are sold per concurrent user and quoted, and the price moves with how much customization your office wants. Setup and one eight hour training day are included, extra training is $760 a day, and annual support is optional.

If you have seen "$49 per user per month" for LawAlign on a software directory, that figure does not match how the vendor says it sells. This page sets the vendor's statements next to the directory numbers, works out when a one time license beats a subscription for a personal injury firm, and lists what to ask before the 30 day trial ends.

How much does LawAlign cost?

LawAlign costs a one time license fee per concurrent user, and the only amount on lawalign.com today is $2,500 for the single user runtime version. Team pricing is not printed. The site lists three ways to buy (single licenses for individuals, on premise licenses for teams, and a cloud option for teams sold as a user subscription) and says prices are subject to change without notice.

Older copies of the cost calculator, still quoted in search results, showed a one user license at $1,500 and annual support at 15% of the purchase price. Neither number appears on the page as it loads now, so treat both as history and ask for the current sheet.

Why directories show a monthly LawAlign price

LawAlign is a small vendor in Melville, New York, and its directory profiles are mostly unmaintained. The result is three different stories about the same product.

SourceWhat it reportsDoes it match the vendor?
lawalign.comOne time purchase per concurrent license, $2,500 for the solo runtimeThe vendor itself
ITQlick$49 per user per month, about $6,380 in year one for 10 users, $500 to $2,000 to implementNo. The same page also lists a one time purchase option
TekponCustom pricing on a subscription model, no public planPartly. Only the cloud option is described as a subscription
G2No pricing provided, profile unclaimedNothing to compare

The likely explanation is simple. Directory templates assume software is rented per user per month, and LawAlign does offer a cloud subscription for teams, so a monthly figure gets filled in. The desktop product that most of the site describes is bought once. When a number online conflicts with the vendor's own pages, the vendor's pages win, and a written quote beats both.

What a one time license really costs over five years

A perpetual license is cheaper only if you count everything around it. LawAlign is built on Claris FileMaker and runs as a client and server application on Windows, Mac, iPad and iPhone. Its compatibility list names FileMaker Server 19 and FileMaker Pro 19. That means a multi user office supplies three things a subscription product bundles into its fee:

  • FileMaker licenses. The $2,500 runtime version does not need one. Team installs run on FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server, which Claris licenses separately. Ask LawAlign which licenses your quote assumes and price them with Claris.
  • A server and backups. On premise means a machine in your office or a hosted server, plus someone responsible for backups and updates.
  • Support, if you want it. It is optional, which is the selling point. Decide in advance whether you will buy it, because a PI firm without support during a trial month is taking a real risk.

For a solo the comparison is easy to run. CasePeer, which publishes its rates, charges $90 per user per month on its Basic tier, or $1,080 a year for one user. At that rate a $2,500 one time license pays for itself in about two years and four months, and every year after is free of license cost. Here is the same arithmetic against the rates PI platforms print or are reported at.

One user, license cost onlyYear 1Year 3Year 5
LawAlign solo runtime, $2,500 once$2,500$2,500$2,500
CasePeer Basic, $90 a month (published)$1,080$3,240$5,400
SmartAdvocate, $109 a month (reported by Capterra)$1,308$3,924$6,540

This is our arithmetic on a vendor price and two listed rates. It leaves out hardware, optional support and your own time, which sit on the LawAlign side, and implementation fees, which sit mostly on the subscription side. For a firm of five or ten, the team quote decides it, so get that quote before drawing any conclusion. Our pages on SmartAdvocate pricing and CasePeer pricing carry the per user math for larger offices.

What LawAlign does for the money

LawAlign is case management for personal injury practices. The site describes rule based task scheduling, case plans and checklists, critical dates and alerts, calendars, document generation from templates, a digital filing cabinet, a tracker for medical records and special damages, and field level access controls with AES 256 bit encryption. It covers a case from intake to trial and can be customized to an office's workflow, which is the other variable in the price.

The software picks up once a lead is in the system. Getting the lead there is a separate problem: a firm that sends evening and weekend calls to voicemail loses signed cases before any case management software sees them, which is why some offices add a service that answers the phone around the clock and books the consultation.

What the site does not describe is any AI that reads documents. There is no mention of record summaries, chronologies, or a way to ask questions across a case file. LawAlign tracks which records you requested and what the specials total. Reading the 600 pages that came back is still a person's job.

Is LawAlign worth it for a small PI firm?

LawAlign is worth pricing if you are a solo or small plaintiff firm that wants to own its software, keep data on its own machines, and stop paying per user every month. It is a weaker fit if you want a hosted product with no server to look after, a large integration catalog, or built in AI. Three situations make the choice clearer.

  • Solo with a stable caseload. $2,500 once against $1,000 to $1,300 a year is a short payback, as long as you are comfortable being your own IT department.
  • Five to fifteen people. Ask for the concurrent license count you really need. Concurrent licensing means twelve staff who are never all logged in at once may need fewer than twelve licenses, which per user subscriptions do not allow.
  • A firm shopping mainly for AI. None of the pricing above buys it. Case management and document reading are separate purchases here.

Adding AI document review to a firm that runs LawAlign

Because LawAlign keeps recurring cost near zero, the AI line in the budget can be chosen on its own merits. CaseClerk does one job: you upload a case's documents, ask a question in plain English, and get an answer that names the document and page it came from. A paralegal asks which providers treated the client before the collision date, or whether the billing ledger and the records disagree on dates of service, and checks the cited pages.

CaseClerk planPrice per monthPages per month
Solo$992,500
Professional$24910,000
Firm$49930,000
Enterprise$99860,000

The price is for the account, with no seat count, and a case holds up to 1,000 files in 20 formats. CaseClerk does not manage cases, does not produce a medical chronology document and does not draft demand letters, and it has no connection to LawAlign or FileMaker. It runs in a browser next to them. The trial is 25 pages across up to 5 files with no card, enough to test it on one client's records. More on where this fits in a plaintiff practice is in our guide to legal AI software for personal injury firms, and the tools that do produce demand packages are compared on the EvenUp pricing page.

Questions to ask LawAlign before the trial ends

  1. What is the one time price for our number of concurrent licenses, and what does customization add?
  2. Which FileMaker licenses do we need to buy from Claris, and at which version?
  3. What does annual support cost if we want it, and what happens to updates if we skip it?
  4. How does the cloud for teams subscription compare in price with on premise over five years?
  5. Can you convert our existing cases and documents, and for what fee?
  6. How do we export everything if we move to another system later?

Does LawAlign have a free trial?

Yes. LawAlign offers a 30 day free trial, according to its home page. Use the month to load a handful of real cases, generate the letters you send most often, and test the critical date alerts. Run the document reading test in parallel on the same file, since that part of the workload sits outside what LawAlign does.
